摘要

In this paper, the performance of a self-powered\udunipolar gate driver supply circuit for power devices is studied,\udwith the aim of analyzing the viability of using such circuits in\udhigh voltage applications with discrete components. A simplified\udmodel of the circuit, capturing the essential features, is\udproposed, from which practical design guidelines are provided\udto optimize the overall circuit performance. These design\udguidelines allow a proper component selection that can result in\udsignificant improvements in the circuit performance.\udExperimental results of typical parameters characterizing the\udturn-on and turn-off transients, including the turn-on and turnoff\udenergy loss, are provided for a wide range of current values\udand different gate resistances. The results are compared to those\udobtained using a conventional gate driver power supply.
